2nd Kansas Green Team Assembly and Awards Luncheon, July 16, 2009

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment hosted the 2nd Annual Kansas Green Team Assembly and Awards Luncheon on July 16, 2009 at the Kansas Museum of History. This year’s event had 98 attendees, presenters, exhibitors as well as staff working together to promote waste reduction, recycling, energy reduction and composting within state government.

In January 2007, Executive Directive No. 07-373 firmly changed the direction of Kansas State Government and its priorities relating to energy conservation and management. A Green Team is a group of employees dedicated to promoting waste reduction, recycling, and responsible purchasing in their workplace. By implementing this program, state agencies will be helping the State of Kansas to lead by example and increase emphasis on responsible stewardship practices, which promote energy conservation, services for the disabled, fiscal responsibility, pollution prevention, resource conservation, and economic development in Kansas.

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrates the success of the Green Team Program! Be sure and check out the awardees’  and attachments.
