Atchison Juvenile Correctional Facility Green Team

Held organizational meeting on 10/11/07 with 6 members present. Assignments were given for research and the next meeting scheduled for 10/23/07. Due to the nature of our facility, we will only be able to recycle paper (all), newspapers and magazines, plastic #1, and printer cartridges. We currently recycle all papers and the printer cartridges. Two plastic bins were purchased, one for visitor center and admin building, and one for activity therapy. Mr. Sherlock developed a kick-off campaign, incorporating our CARES dog (Denali) and posted the information on the in-house web page, as well as around the admin building. Monthly meetings are being held and Friday Facts are being shared with staff. As of Feb. 15, we have recycled over 900 plastic bottles, and 63 pounds of printer cartridges.
