El Dorado Correctional Facility Green Team
We are a state agency working closely with the city of El Dorado with recycling in cardboard, shredded paper and pop cans. Our correctional facility provides labor at the local city recycle center. The cardboard recycle program produces 1,500lbs per week and the city needs this volumn to continue a successful operation. They also use inmate labor to sort and package the recycle items at their facility. We will continue to look for other items to expand the program, but would like support to recycle our food waste coming the kitchen. Presently we serve 1,200 inmates three meals a day and the waste could be processed to make a top quality top soil. The process is done in an enclosed negative compactor type of machine and takes about 30-45 days. This would help clean up the sewage coming from the faciliy.
