The KDOL team has been actively working to identify methods of reducing waste associated with the operation. This includes utilizing recycled products, recycling as many items as possible, reducing paper useage by electronically mailing different documents, and conducted more efficient trip planning to reduce the amount of automobile fuel used. All of the KDOL buildings have recycling bins, along with shredding bins, which are removed on a scheduled basis. The agency utilized community copiers and printers to reduce the amount of toner necessary for small printers. The team leader is the Director for the Division of Industrial Safety & Health, with other members from purchasing, facilities and security. As much as possible, the agency considers green potential when updating operations, purchasing new equipment and/or purchasing office materials. As much as possible, KDOL tries to recycle, reuse and reduce the amount of waste associated with the agency.
