KDHE NEDO
We have had a volunteer recycling program since 1996. Unfortunately, only a handful of people in our office of 20 routinely recycle. We still have people throwing aluminum cans in the trash! The office paper routinely gets picked up once a month by the City of Lawrence. All other recycling is transported to various recycling centers around town by volunteers on their own time. Aluminum can recycling money is donated to the Lawrence Habitat for Humanity. 2008 Update - Most of the staff now have 3 containers in their office for waste: trash, office paper, and all other recyclables. Individuals take their recycling containers to the collection area to sort. A city collection site for cardboard, mixed paper and newspaper is now located very near our office. show less
