Larned State Hospital Green Team

Larned State Hospital has been looking for ways to conserve resources for many years. Some of the ways that we are "Green" include: Recycling, repair and reuse of office furniture, reuse of hanging files, binders, folders, internal mail envelopes, packing materials, accept used clothing donations for patients and send extra clothing on to thrift shops, shred confidential paper (contracted service), purchase recycled printer and toner cartridges and return empties, burn to CD health record requests instead of printing them out on paper, purchase recycled content color paper, converted to an electronic medical record to decrease the use of paper, make and distribute scratch pads from used non-confidential paper to use instead of sticky notes, return 90% of the pallets to the vendors for reuse, changed from oil-based paint to latex paint and reduced the use of thinner to almost 0%, purchase 10% ethanol and biodiesel fuels, recycle motor oil, changed all incandescent light bulbs to fluorescents campus wide, and use some battery powered golf carts to move around on the campus instead of vehicles. show less
