Rules, we all have them:

STEP 1: Sign up and register to become a team beginning April 5, 2010, and order boxes by visiting www.call2recycle.org/KSChallenge

STEP 2: Once you sign up, Call2Recycle will send you collection boxes with pre-paid, pre-addressed shipping labels, safety instructions and plastic bags for used rechargeable batteries and old cell phones.

Promote it: Visit www.call2recycle.org/KSChallenge to download posters and other promotional materials to help spread the recycling challenge message.

STEP 3: Begin Collecting
Bag it: Place each rechargeable battery and cell phone, with or without battery, into a separate bag. Remember: ONE rechargeable battery or ONE cell phone with battery per bag only. If you're running low on bags, you can order more bags at www.call2recycle.org/KSChallenge or you can tape battery terminals with electrical tape.
Seal it: Remove plastic strip from top of bag and seal.
Drop it: Deposit sealed bag into the box.

STEP 4: Ship it: Once your box is full, close the box and secure it with packaging tape. Print your return address on the pre-paid, pre-addressed shipping label and add your box to your daily UPS shipping. Replenishment boxes will be shipped automatically.

Call2Recycle pays for the shipping and recycling costs, and will automatically send you a replacement box. If you call UPS for a pick-up, they may charge you a fee so to decrease or avoid these charges we recommend that you hold containers until a UPS delivery is made to your location or simply ship more than one container at a time.

Call2Recycle® is a program of the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC) promoting environmental sustainability by providing free battery and cell phone recycling in North America. The Long Haul rules consist of many conditions, and your participation is contingent on how these rules fit in with your organization. (Some examples: defining team leaders, grades in schools, collection days, any legal issues or operation rules that pertain to your organization). Once your team is registered for the Long Haul contest, you will be placed on the official roster with Call2Recycle. Call2Recycle will be the official score keeper for this contest utilizing collection reports.
