Summary

It started with Kansas Wesleyan University's Biology Club organizing a schedule for students to routinely collect recycling containers for paper to a centralized location to be picked up by the local recycling agency, and has grown as involvement has grown into now having more recycling containers, and expanding the pick ups to include plastic bottles.

This fall we are having a community service day titled Project HUNT for Green (Helping Unite Neighborhoods Together For Green) to help promote green ideas such as recycling, composting, and conservative ideas for energy, as well as a fun way for students to volunteer. We plan on collaborating with our neghboring college, Kansas State University at Salina, and seniors from the four local high schools, for a mass community service day from 9:00am to 1:00pm including a multitude of different sites and locations for students to volunteer at throughout the community of Salina. We started the community service day last year and had over 200 volunteers with juts Kansas State University and Kansas Wesleyan Universities, and this year with the four highschools are planning to have over 300. Attatched is the document of the duties of the Project Coordinator and Site Leaders, and their responsibilities to help make this day successful.
